Balance bright stars with a quiet background

Blue, turquoise and violet give the runner a cool night-sky palette. Choose prints whose lightness separates them from the navy ground, especially at the star points. A pale blue center can create contrast without introducing another dominant color.

Try the fabrics beside the dishes and table surface you intend to use. A runner that looks subtle on a pale table may look more dramatic on dark wood. The construction stays the same even when you choose a different palette.

Check one star before assembling the row

The nominal design is 42 by 16 inches. Before joining three stars, verify each unit against the unfinished measurements in the instructions. Matching raw edges alone does not prove that the seam allowances or star points are correct.

Number the blocks and any separating strips before sewing. Check that all blocks face the planned direction. When pressing long joined rows, lift the iron instead of dragging it along the runner.

These notes help you evaluate colors, scale and preparation. They do not replace a complete cutting list or row-by-row recipe.
