Use ribbon contrast to define the presents

Three gift motifs share a red, green and cream palette. Make sure the ribbon fabric stands apart from the gift body. Small, low-contrast prints can make a ribbon disappear even if the fabrics look different when seen as full pieces.

Look at the row from both sides of the table. If you use a directional novelty print, mark the top of every gift before cutting. Keep the bow units and body pieces in separately labeled groups to avoid confusing similar small parts.

Build and check each motif as a unit

The planned runner is 42 by 16 inches nominally. Follow the unfinished block checkpoints before adding sashing and borders. Check the center gift as carefully as the end gifts; a small width difference becomes visible across the row.

Practice the seam allowance on scrap fabric first. If the ribbon intersections do not meet, compare the cutting and seam lines before pulling on the fabric. Press the assembled runner flat without stretching its long edges.

These notes help you evaluate colors, scale and preparation. They do not replace a complete cutting list or row-by-row recipe.
