Plan your version.

Choose three trees that read as a group

Three evergreen motifs sit on cream fabric with a dark edge. You can vary the green shades while keeping their contrast against the background similar. If one tree is much paler, decide whether it should deliberately become a quieter center rather than an accidental weak spot.

Use a paper placement map for directional fabric. Check trunks as well as tree shapes: a very similar trunk and background can change how the silhouette reads from a distance.

Separate the top from the finished runner

The stated assembled quilt top is 15½ by 36½ inches, including the outer raw edges. Quilting, trimming and washing can change the final dimensions. Write the target stage beside each measurement in your project notes.

Before assembling all three motifs, compare the first tree block with the diagram and measurement checkpoint. Keep cut pieces labeled by tree position so that changing green shades does not also change the placement of the parts.

These notes help you evaluate colors, scale and preparation. They do not replace a complete cutting list or row-by-row recipe.
